About Us....
Matheson Mackenzie Ross Architects is a creative practice that provides a full architecture service from sketch designs through to project completion for both private and commercial clients in the Inverness area, across the Highlands and beyond.
Our work ranges from small extensions to multi-million pound residential schemes and hi-tech factories. We have the experience and capability to provide an excellent service, working with our clients towards an ideal solution.
The firm dates back to 1910 and is run from our offices in Dingwall by Hugh and Neil Ross who have broad experience of new build, conservation and commercial projects andare members of the R.I.B.A. (Royal Institute of British Architects) and RIAS (Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland). We have found that quality design and a smooth construction process results from good communication with clients, contractors and consultants whilst effectively managing time and cost. We hope to build on our reputation for meeting our client’s requirements and helping them to construct high quality, sustainable buildings with a local identity.
Our renovation of a substantial B listed house that had been reused as a petrol station was recently shortlisted for the New Life for Old Buildings 2008 IAA Awards. In summer 2009 we have completed two housing developments for Albyn Housing Society and one for Cairn Housing Association in the conservation area of Ullapool. Our proposal for the conversion and new development in the grounds of Ambassador House, Dornoch has just received planning permission with work starting on site in 2010 and refurbishment of Glencanisp Lodge, Lochinver with new renewable heating system is currently on site.
As buildings and their construction make a major contribution to the world’s carbon dioxide emissions, we believe it is vital to help make buildings which perform well in energy consumption as well as in function and appearance.
